The Way Out

Have you ever realized suddenly that you were in the midst of a temptation? What was your immediate reaction? The Bible tells us that “with the temptation [God will] also make a way to escape.” At times, we have a tendency to feel that once we start something, we must follow through. This is a great example to live by when it comes to serving God, but not so much when it comes to engaging in sin. Rather than feeling trapped into the gears in motion and attempting to repent AFTER we have actually given into the sin, we must realize that God, in His faithfulness, actually provides a way to avoid giving in altogether. When you are in the midst of a temptation and you become aware, AT THAT MOMENT God is giving you an opportunity to escape. Take a pause and ask that He reveal to you the way out. Whether you are smack dab in the middle of a relationship, a sexual temptation, a business deal, a moment of decision, a solidified plan, etc., when the Spirit makes you aware that you are being tempted to sin against God by going your own way, according to the Word, you still have an opportunity and way to escape. The more pressing question is, will you take it? Just some thoughts this morning.

  • I Cor 10:13 - There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
