Love for God

Do we truly love the Lord? We know God loves everybody, but we can’t just assume that we all love God. There are some of us that like the idea of what God can do for us, but that only equates to having conditional like for God, not love. Because we like Him when He gives us what we want, and we don’t prefer Him when things get hard. Yet if we truly say we love God, listen to what Jesus says:

  • If you love me, you will keep my commandments. John 14:15

  • Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me. John 14:21

  • If anyone loves me, he will keep my word. John 14:23

These are Words directly from the mouth of Jesus. We have a tendency to operate as if our love for God is just an emotional feeling, but Jesus didn’t say that those who love Him should try to keep His commands when we feel like it or when it’s convenient. He said those who love Him WILL keep His commands and His word. Just something to think about.
